The funeral director collects and cares for the person, carries out the cremation at a time they choose, and returns the ashes to the family afterwards. Families often hold their own memorial separately, in their own time and at no extra cost to the funeral director.
It's the most affordable option — typically £1,200–£1,800 — and it suits those who'd prefer to remember their loved one in a personal way rather than a formal service, or who want to keep things simple.
